LOVE this motherboard! Add an i7 4770K CPU, or even the newer 4790, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB+ SSD. Put it into a good case with adequate cooling and a decent 850W power supply, and you'll have a screaming PC!! I built such a system a couple of months ago with this board and LOVE it. It has to be one of the best computer systems I've owned.

Running Kubuntu Linux, from the time I turn on the power button (cold boot) until I'm at the login screen, is about 3 seconds. And from the time I click "shutdown" until the computer has completely saved everything and powered off is about 2 seconds.

With the automatic overclocking support in this motherboard maximizing CPU usage, I can completely compile code in less time on this computer than it takes my computer at work to even unzip the source files. Now, a lot of that speed comes from the SSD that the other system doesn't have, but this motherboard provides a good interface for that drive and does a great job managing processor and memory settings to get the most out of your devices.

It was fairly simple to configure and get running. Things seemed to be layed out in good/convenient locations on the board. Plus, the WiFi works really well too -- better than several other systems I have with built-in WiFi. That is, it tends to not drop connections and is able to maintain consistently fast transfer to/from other devices on my home network -- better than most of the other nodes on my network.

I've had no issues with this board, except for the USB ports running the mouse/keyboard (i.e. slow 1.1 level devices). Other postings mentioned that it's a problem with Windows on this motherboard, but I found it's a problem with not only Windows, but Linux and even the BIOS setup screens too. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.

I think there's a BIOS patch to fix it, but I found if I just run them in USB 2 ports instead of USB 3 ports, there aren't any issues. That's where they should be running anyway and not wasting the USB 3 ports for such slow devices. But, you will probably want to get a little USB 2 breakout panel to mount in one of the rear slots so you'll have USB 2 ports on the back of the computer to connect the mouse/keyboard, as the on-board rear-facing USB ports on this motherboard are all USB 3.

Beautiful MB with tons of features and hopefully I'll get to use them someday. I've been taking my time with this build to make sure everything goes well. I don't know why you would ever want more than what this board has to offer. So if you're looking for bluetooth, wifi, lightning connectivity, Get it! If you don't know if you'll want or need it. Get something cheaper. I've come to the conclusion that future proofing is a false hope, especially if you build a new rig every 2-3 years. It has overclocked like a dream and its able to push out a stable 4.8 under stress test on my 4770K. So normal applications no issues. That said here are some issues. Purchased Kingston HyperX Beast 32GB 2400MHz set (Great Memory for the price BTW). When I started my research I swear it was listed on the compatibility list. Its hard to make up memory part numbers, but when I tried to overclock with the 32GB it would crash. Go down to 16 GB and everything runs perfect. I called ASUS support and they actually answered the phone in a timely manner, but when we opened the memory document again, it lists the 32 GB kit as only suitable for 2 DIMMS. Why they would list a 4 DIMM kit as compatible but only if you use half of them makes no sense to me. Actually under the 16GB 2 DIMM kit of this exact same memory is still listed for 4 DIMMS??? Anyway the memory is great and I did get all 32GB to work but had to slow them down to 2200MHZ 11-11-11-32. I love ASUS and MSI hardware, EVGA you're great on paper. Oh and by the way for those who just are going to use the on board graphics. Don't by this MB, you don't need this power. Save some money and get something cheaper and a decent GPU. Overclocking the MB will not get you 60 fps on BF4. Cheers.

SO many problems with overclocking, other than that its working fine

Great board. Easy build. Everything worked form the start. Have built since the late 80's and used intel, MSI, Gigabyte (good boards) but always come back to Asus. Everyone may have a DOA once in awhile but Asus is always on top. Tech is a little weak sometime but so are they all. My only regret is using Win 8.1. I've tried to like it, get used to it and modify it and it still frustrates the hell out of me. I still can't find everything. Samsung SSD 256, Seagate 4GB HD, Corsair Vengeance, XFX 1200 watt black and Cooler Master Cosmos ll. Just the beginning. Water cooling, raid and more to follow once the build is fully vetted. 16 gig mem will soon go to 32 gb. Photoshop Elements and Premiere 12 just installed. i7-4770K seems quick enough as I'm not a gamer. Oclock to be next step after software install. Nice board.

Would have given 5 stars if I could figure out how to update the bios. The updater just gives me a message that says I need to update my IMEI drivers, which I did, but will not allow me to complete the bios update and there doesn't seem to be any other working option for this motherboard.

After receiving two faulty ASUS Z87 Deluxe Dual boards that had to be sent back, it was a relief that this board worked flawlessly. It was a breeze installing it and to my delight it posted and installed windows without problems. Passed all the stress tests I could think of without crashing even once.

I bought the board because I wanted Thunderbolt, Intel USB 3.0, six SATA III ports, and the latest Intel RAID controller (so I could use a couple of old and a couple of new SSDs in two arrays of RAID 0 - the older Intel RAID controller for some reason always crashed when I tried that. Works fine on this board).

In general I really like the board. Only thing I think I would have designed differently is omitting the old VGA connector on the back in favour of a couple of USB 2.0 inputs. Fortunately I have USB 2.0 on the front of my case, but in my view it doesn't make sense to have to move the keyboard cable from the rear USB 3.0 connector to the USB 2.0 connector on the front to enter the BIOS (for example).

Otherwise, great board. Gets five stars from me!
