Running Kubuntu Linux, from the time I turn on the power button (cold boot) until I'm at the login screen, is about 3 seconds. And from the time I click "shutdown" until the computer has completely saved everything and powered off is about 2 seconds.
With the automatic overclocking support in this motherboard maximizing CPU usage, I can completely compile code in less time on this computer than it takes my computer at work to even unzip the source files. Now, a lot of that speed comes from the SSD that the other system doesn't have, but this motherboard provides a good interface for that drive and does a great job managing processor and memory settings to get the most out of your devices.
It was fairly simple to configure and get running. Things seemed to be layed out in good/convenient locations on the board. Plus, the WiFi works really well too -- better than several other systems I have with built-in WiFi. That is, it tends to not drop connections and is able to maintain consistently fast transfer to/from other devices on my home network -- better than most of the other nodes on my network.
I've had no issues with this board, except for the USB ports running the mouse/keyboard (i.e. slow 1.1 level devices). Other postings mentioned that it's a problem with Windows on this motherboard, but I found it's a problem with not only Windows, but Linux and even the BIOS setup screens too. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.
I think there's a BIOS patch to fix it, but I found if I just run them in USB 2 ports instead of USB 3 ports, there aren't any issues. That's where they should be running anyway and not wasting the USB 3 ports for such slow devices. But, you will probably want to get a little USB 2 breakout panel to mount in one of the rear slots so you'll have USB 2 ports on the back of the computer to connect the mouse/keyboard, as the on-board rear-facing USB ports on this motherboard are all USB 3.
I bought the board because I wanted Thunderbolt, Intel USB 3.0, six SATA III ports, and the latest Intel RAID controller (so I could use a couple of old and a couple of new SSDs in two arrays of RAID 0 - the older Intel RAID controller for some reason always crashed when I tried that. Works fine on this board).
In general I really like the board. Only thing I think I would have designed differently is omitting the old VGA connector on the back in favour of a couple of USB 2.0 inputs. Fortunately I have USB 2.0 on the front of my case, but in my view it doesn't make sense to have to move the keyboard cable from the rear USB 3.0 connector to the USB 2.0 connector on the front to enter the BIOS (for example).
Otherwise, great board. Gets five stars from me!
