Good for basic systems. Would not recommend for gaming/editing systems
It's a pretty solid motherboard for the money.See the bottom for an overall summary:Pros:•Works•good price•solid aesthetic•decent build quality•full audio interface•onboard graphicsCons:•no USB 3.0 or above from panel headers•only one pcie slot•only two fan headers. This board is solid for the price of you plan on building an extreme budget system. If you are building a gaming rig however I would recommend something in the $70+ range, there will be some missing functionality in terms of from I/o for certain cases and it has to cut some features to stay at its price point.Overall summery:Good mother board for basic systems, if you want a truly satisfying experience with a higher end rig I would honestly recommend you spend a bit more.

Works fantastic with my setup. I love everything about it except the lack of Sata3. I bought it because it was cheap at the time and the value was incredible and since I didn't at the time have a SSD, I wasn't too concerned about the lack of sata3. Now that I am upgrading to a SSD, I will simply buy an expansion card that has internal SATA3 ports and connect my new SSD to that.

Besides that everything works great. Plenty of ports for anything you need. Had integrated video if needed, but also has a port for a single graphics card. Plenty of sata2 ports, 2 classic PCI ports, USB headers to connect USB to your front panel, and even a PS/2 port in case you want to use an old keyboard or mouse. Also, the BIOS is already updated to the latest and it is very user friendly.

It was super easy to hook up. All of the cables leading to the front panel are clearly marked and easy to hook up. The only thing I would change about it is there isn't much room between the CPU and the RAM slots. My CPU's heatsink was kind of big (the stock one) so it made it hard to hook up ram to the first slot. I changed the heatsink though, which was admittedly pretty large, and now all of the ram slots are easily accessible. I don't know if this would be an issue for any other CPU heatsinks since I'm not familiar with most others, but something to consider.

Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase since it was the cheapest motherboard I could find that was AM3+, USB3, had PCIx16x, and has 4 ram slots to upgrade the ram to 32GB. The only thing I would have wanted is the Sata3, but I am easily fixing that with a PCI card for about $12 dollars.

This board is pretty spectacular. I was upgrading a dead board for a client, and this is a big upgrade. Much better...easy to install. The only issue is that the CPU fan is a PWM controlled 4 pin and the cooler I had from the previous board was a DC controlled 3 pin fan...so the fan ran like way faster than needed. It was incredibly noisy so I bought a 15 dollar cooler to solve the problem.

The software shipped with this is not Windows 8 or 10 compatible even though the board is fully 8 and 10 compatible...so you will have to let windows load their default drivers for some of the devices then download from ASUS the correct drivers. One thing I find amazing about ASUS is their quality and their ability to stand by their warranty...so if you have to buy a board ASUS is the way to go....

I bought this motherboard almost a year ago and it has done it's job well. I bought the motherboard for two reasons. The first reason was because I have frequent power outages where I live and I noticed that this board was surge protected and I wanted to make sure I had all my bases covered. The second reason is because it was one of the cheaper motherboards advertised as USB 3.0 and I wanted a 3.0 motherboard so I could use my front panel USB 3.0 ports. The motherboard did the first job flawlessly and has saved me multiple times, but it unfortunately was not able to perform the second job I wanted it to. I didn't really read between the lines and I thought this motherboard would support front panel USB 3.0 but I was mistaken. All in all, this is a good motherboard if you are building your first PC and want a decent motherboard. Like I said earlier though, this does not support front panel USB 3.0, so if you plan on using your case's front panel USB 3.0, find a different motherboard, if you don't mind, this motherboard is a good buy.

The build quality is great and everything worked right out of the package. The USB 3.0 ports are a good plus. However, this board is SATA II so my SSD won't be able to perform at peak levels. Also, if you have a case with USB 3.0 ports built in you won't be able to use them. The board does not have any USB 3.0 headers.
Overall, however, this board is sturdy and a good buy. I built a budget gaming rig with it and I could not be happier.
If you're building a budget rig then you probably won't mind the fact that it's SATA II. The load and boot times are hard to notice and only someone with high end components and demanding programs will see timings affected.
I have not had any compatibility issues with the hardware/software I've put into my PC. Here are my specs for the PC I built with this board:
    AMD FX6300
    OCZ Trion 120gb SSD

    Zotac GTX 950

The OEM mobo on my HP HPE 410y pc had issues, which is very common based on my research to find solutions. However, the mobo on my pc died after the warranty expired. I had pushed that pc to backup duty, but, finally needed to either find a fix, or recycle the unit. This asus mobo was inexpensive enough to attempt to fix the pc, as it was compatible with both the CPU (phenom II X6 1045t) and ram that I had with the original pc. I was also able to reuse the OEM win 7 OS because the mobo died, and would not be reused (just took some time to verify with Microsoft).

So, just a new mobo fixed the old HP. The only minor issue is this mobo does not control the speed of the chasis fan (the CPU fan is controlled properly). The chasis fan only runs at max speed. The cheap fan from HP was running at 2600 rpm and was very loud. I updated the fan to an Arctic F9, which has a lower max rpm and is much quieter. I may add a fan controller, but the new fan is now acceptable.

This was a good fix for the price. I have since upgraded the CPU to a FX 8320E, which works great on this mobo. I am now using this PC to capture and encode my old collection of VHS tapes that have no DVD equivalent. The eight cores and better speed on the fx are very noticeable over the phenom ii cpu.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Value & Performance
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 4, 2013
This mobo was central to my budget home built music PC as for the price, it is a good performer with good specs. Asus have a good reputation for motherboards and this one is no exception. I was also pleasantly surprised that the RAM limit was not 8GB as I was led to believe but 32GB, which is brilliant. Although i5 and i7 CPU's are recommended for music recording, they tend to be more expensive and for the sort of music I intend to do are not strictly necessary, and the AMD Phenom II 4core black CPU I installed was about £100 cheaper than the Intel alternative. The extra cash saved was used to buy a SSD which has improved loading speeds considerably. With 10 x USB 2.0 ports and 2 x USB 3.0 ports this board can deal with all my peripherals without having to buy an additional USB expander. The USB 3.0 ports should deal with any future expansions. The six SATA ports are also good, although once an SSD, DVD drive and a couple of HDD's are installed it only leaves 2 ports free for future use. My only criticism is that the SATA ports are 3GBs instead of the faster 6GBs, but this is a mid-range board and the difference in speed would be hard to notice. The 4 expansion ports are okay and the on board sound and graphics are good and, as a music PC doesn't require state of the art graphics or sound (we use an external audio interface) upgrades are not necessary, unless you want to play top rate games. All in all a great motherboard for the money which has enabled me to build a well specified music PC for under £500.
