Great board! No unexpected problems in setup or with compatibility. Installed my H110 with no clearance issues with the heat sinks directly around the CPU but be warned they are a bit taller then the older Z87 boards (Z87 Pro) so it may cause issues with some air coolers. There is plenty of room around the gfx card so no issues there.

On board sound is nothing ground breaking but it does work well. It overclocked to 4.4GHz without breaking a sweat and has remained stable through normal and gaming use. Overall this is a great board for someone looking to get into the Z97 line. It is priced a bit higher then some other comparable boards but has the added benefit of on board AC wifi so if that's something you were looking to upgrade you might be saving yourself a few dollars that way.

As a side note: The Asus software has some bugs/install issues but it doesn't detract from the overall board. The board shipped with the oldest bios. I highly recommend getting the latest and greatest at the support website!

I have experienced intermittent startup problems with the USB ports on this motherboard, especially with input devices like mouse, keyboard and camera. I am running Windows 8.1 64 bit on my PC. The input devices are not able to awaken the PC from sleep mode or the devices are not recognized after startup has occurred. Some times these problems occur when the PC is started from shutdown. These problems are intermittent and do not always occur.
After I finally get the PC restarted via the reset button, it works fine. However startup can be a real pain.
After further investigation it turns out that only the USB 3.0 ports have this problem. When devices are plugged into the USB 2.0 ports, they function properly. Even my external hard drive has this problem, but only when connected to a USB 3.0 port.
The problem with the USB 3.0 ports continues, and it has gotten worse. I think I'm going to ditch this motherboard and get a new one from a different manufacturer.

This is a very good mobo for just about any use. It has every kind of port that anyone might need, including some useful legacy ports like VGA. The UEFI is generally easy to use if you have any idea what you're doing, but some of the UI elements are a little bit annoying. There are too many options fit into too few menus, although options are not necessarily a bad thing. The automatic overclocking function works quite well. My Pentium G3258 overclocked to 4.4 GHz automatically with the stock cooler, and my RAM is overclocked to 1900 MHz. Essentially, it just raised my base clock to 101.98 MHz and raised the multiplier from 32 to 43. I haven't had any voltage or stability issues, so it seems that this has worked very well. RAID was also very easy to set up, although it didn't work until after an update. This motherboard came with the original UEFI installed even though there have been three or four updates, so I had to do that before anything would work properly. My only other complaint is the color, but that's entirely subjective.

While the board is very nice and full of rich features, the wifi module is not at all reliable. I had to return the first one after 24 hours. The replacement has now died 2 weeks past the eligible return date. Will not boot windows or any OS from any hard drive unless the wifi adapter is disabled in bios. Firmware update or rollback doesn't help. No amount of driver fiddling helps. ASUS techline agrees it is the adapter itself. I'm not going to bother with the cost and hassle of a RMA, My machine would be down for weeks and more money out of my pocket. Screw that noise, I'll just use another wireless adapter from now on and probably stay away from ASUS in the future. The wifi on my ASUS Transformer Prime is garbage, too. (even with the silly dongle! All it does is keep me from being able to use the keyboard!!)

Save your money and stick to the non-wifi version or a different board. To be fair, though, the Z97 Pro is a great board if you ignore the wifi issue. That's why I gave it three stars.

Excellent board. Installed it this weekend with a i7 4690K,Corsair H105, 16GB of Corsair Vengeance memory and a Crucial SSD. Easy to setup and is running great. Will give it a few days and will overclock then. Like the bios and it was very easy to use and change the settings I wanted changed. I have always stuck with Asus boards and have never had one issue.

07/18/2015 Well my luck has not held out on my Asus board. After trying to use a new steering controller and brake pedal set with this board I ran into all kinds of issues with the USB ports and boot up. If I plug in the wheel and pedals it will not boot. I have updated and installed drivers but nothing solves it. I finally had to go into the bios and disable the usb ports until the OS loads and everything was working fine till the last few days and now it seems to go into a endless cycle of trying to boot and failing and then trying to repair itself which also fails. If I unplug the wheel and pedals I can get it to boot. Major pain because the PC is under a cabinet and I can't keep pulling it in and out to plug and unplug the cables. I also read on the iRacing forums that other people are having the same issue. I just ordered a MSI Z97 Gaming board and will replace the ASUS board. I have been using ASUS boards for years and always came back to them but this has been my worst experience with a ASUS board and probably my last.
