HWBOT and GDPR

Today the new GDPR laws are put into practice in the European Union. What does this mean for HWBOT?

As the GDPR laws are now into effect, we have have not only the moral but also the legal duty to inform you of your rights as a EU citizen about your privacy data you shared with us.

The privacy and terms and conditions, which can be read on hwbot and oc-esports.io, pretty much remain un altered since 2008. The summary is we do not share your personal data, but do share anonymous hardware statistics with hardware manufacturers, as they like to know how their hardware is doing compared to their competitors in the pc enthusiast market section. An exception is when you take part of a competition, your contact email address and name is shared with the organizing party if you win a prize. We will do our best to make this clear in the competition rules, but it should not be a surprise we need personal contact info to contact the prize winners.

If you are a member of the European Union, you now have an additional form in your account page (privacy) where you can request a view on all the data we have linked to your account. Currently it is only available to EU members, as it is requires a lot of manual labor to gather all the data, and our resources are limited.

A request to fully delete your account and all the data we have on you, already exists and is a physical delete, not a "soft" delete which merely hides your account. This functionality is available to all members.

Any more questions, do not be afraid to ask!
