Those are the rules man.

Yes. Hardware sharing means you use same hardware to submit to same category, here it is splitting of results, same cpu used for different benchmarks, which is OK. In the past we had joint accounts by some people to avoid irritations, but this was criticized by pro ocers especially who claimed this gives unfair advantage at ranking... so this was abandoned.

I see, so you can technically share physical hardware as long as you don't submit the same benchmark with it. I hope Der8aur finds a 7g gem and sells it for like $2000 US, that way several teamates and I can each get two or three global 4 core golds. Thanks for the heads up Michael :)

yeap, as soon as you dont dublicate scores (for example same cpu = 2+ scores on the same benchmark) or get more points as you would if there was only one account, I guess its fine. :)

PS. me and phil bench together btw (same city -> one lab); we arent guys who share results from California to Florida, if that makes any sense for you. :)

Thanks fire, this is something I was unaware of. When I think "hardware sharing" I see the meaning you would find in a dictionary, guess I should be having my lawyer look the rules over for me to see where else I'm losing valuable HWBoints

you don't lose points lol. IF I would be the one to post all of our subs with the cpu, lets say that I would get 200 points and 0 for phil. IF phil was the one, he would get 200 and 0 for me. That way, we kinda "split" them, and we dont -in any possible way- get more points from what our cpu would get if it was benched by ONE ocer. :)

Loosing as in missing out on

SwedenRauf says:

I think this should be clarified in the rules. Rules say: "CPU may not be shared for CPU benchmarks." Both results in question are cpu benchmarks and the cpu is shared... So you need to change this section in the rules if it is allowed.

Will also help a lot in next country cup. The extreme guys can just hand out results to other people...

I also agree with you Rauf as it is really getting ridicilous, though they are stretching the loophole which is in the rules regarding the joint sessions. This rule needs to be adressed in my book... I will not be popular but it is as it is...

To be honest a shared account seems more fair than unfair lol in regular ranking... For competitions individual accounts should be used...

I will not disagree on this, but please remember the awful discussion about team au we had a while ago, and there were also discussions about other combined accounts. They were fiercely attacked for their combined account by top ocers because those said this is practically unbeatable advantage of combined support and hardware. And if a combined account is used, I see no real way how we could make seperate accounts for competitions because they would act as one bencher and be treated this way.

SwedenRauf says:

I don't think it is a bad thing if people have fun and bench together. I would gladly bench with someone if there wasn't >100 km to the closest Swedish XOC. But the problem is that OC is moving more towards competitions and I think we need the same rules for rankings and competitions. For some the ranking is the ultimate competition. It becomes a big problem if you don't have to own your hw with which you enter in competitions...

As for the unfair advantage of a joint account, I don't think it is a problem. XOC is unfair. And anyway, even if we combined all other peoples top scores, I don't think they would beat Dancop in the rankings anyway... Joint account won't take you so far that it becomes unfair.

GreecePhil says:

Its ok from our side to have a combined acc if that is needed; but then we won't accept people whining for having one acc as we will bench together either way. :)

GreeceOGS says:

I 2nd/confirm this ^ from my side as well :)
